Thanks to all the teams that took part in the first round of the Staffordshire League. It seems that everything seemed to have run to plan.

On a more serious note, although we did have enough officials to cover all 3 galas, we did have shortfalls from some clubs.

As per the League rules, Clubs should supply TWO Judges and ONE Timekeeper. Some teams supplied one Judge and two Timekeepers, some were unable to provide Judges, only Timekeepers and some Clubs provided more than requested – thank you!

I am aware that there were reasons why some Clubs could not provide the correct number of officials, but if this is the case, in the first instance contact needs to be made with other Clubs to see if they have any Officials who would be happy to volunteer their services.  If this is not successful, then you can contact myself or Heather Summerill who is the County Officials’ Secretary, to see if Judges can be sourced for your Club.

The rules do state that; “Any Club not supplying a Judge will be fined £25.00.”

After some discussion with the Swimming Committee, it has been agreed that for Round One, this fine will not be implemented, but if the problem occurs during Round 2 onwards, fines will be issued.

May I thank you all, in advance, for your support on this matter.

Rosie Powell - Staffs League Secretary
